When found, this 3,000sf house was ripe for demolition. Its original log cabin was attached to a 1960s addition that was sorely outdated. A complete renovation and reorganization of the interior spaces into usable rooms was required.  Circulation paths were analyzed leaving two of the six original entrances, new energy-efficient windows were installed bringing more light into the space, plumbing and mechanical systems were revamped and new fixtures and finishes were used throughout.

Prior to renovation the house had six entry points with unclear, excess circulation. By clarifying the circulation, space was captured to create an improved hierarchy of spaces. An existing porch was converted into a new master bathroom and a two-story cavity was recaptured to provide a living room on the main level. The entrance at the kitchen was prioritized and given a lush terrace with a clear pathway to the driveway.  Other secondary entrances at the lower level garage and the newly added mud room were kept for easy access to the lower garden.
