THERBEN’s design approach strives for simple, smart, and elegant solutions that create a positive impact. We believe that smart design has the power to elevate and improve our daily experiences, while connecting to the cultural and environmental context in which it resides.
We seek clients that value what we offer, a curious team interested in crafting thoughtful solutions, who believe that design has the power to inspire and enhance living. To that end, we work intimately with our clients to understand their needs and to craft a unique design solution that reflects client aspirations, solves functional requirements beautifully and meets investment goals.
ABOUT HEATHER
Heather Bensko AIA, NCARB, LEED ID+C, is the founder and principal of THERBEN.
Heather is a licensed Architect with over 20 years’ experience. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Williams College and a Master of Architecture from the Yale School of Architecture.
Heather has cultivated a practice based on curiosity, guided by an interdisciplinary approach. She has pursued projects of varying types and scales encompassing architecture, interior design, strategic planning, and project management for residential, hospitality and corporate clients.
Heather has engaged in residential projects that span the globe including France, Hawai’i, New York, Maine, Vermont and Connecticut, bringing clear and personal solutions to her clients. The design of each project tells a story that is unique to the vision of her clients, the environment and the cultural context of the place.
Prior to starting her own studio, Heather worked with international firms Perkins+Will and Perkins Eastman, where she was a leader in sports facility planning and workplace design and strategy, working with clients such as Bloomberg, Google and University of Pittsburgh. In 2015, Heather joined MetLife as the Director of Workplace Design for domestic projects and was promoted to lead the Workplace Design + Construction team in implementing a transformative workplace strategy for its worldwide enterprise. She has led projects ranging from 500 sf to 500,000 sf around the world.
